About the event
The Goddess was prevalent in human spirituality in one form or another for nearly 30,000 years from Neolithic times. It continued, in revised form, through Judeo-Christian history. And its revival today resonates with our attempts to curb climate change and reconnect with the earth because the sacred feminine provides an important rebalancing of the dominance of the patriarchal and colonial mindset.
We will explore the revival of Goddess spirituality from a feminist perspective and as holistic, healing wisdom. We will also study the meanings behind the archetype of the Great Mother. And we will reflect on the various facets of the Goddess' power to transform us spiritually.
We will meet for six sessions, on the first and third Sundays each month, beginning October 1 at 7:00 pm. We will discuss the history, stories and spiritual relevance of the sacred feminine through one woman's journey and hard earned wisdom in the book Home to Her: Walking the Transformative Path of the Sacred Feminine by Liz Childs Kelly.
Our group's exploration is intended to deepen not only our understanding but also our spirituality by engaging both the head and the heart. It is not mainly an academic course. Our group sessions will rely on Socratic questioning and freedom of inquiry to spark both learning and growth.
PLEASE NOTE: Tuition amount is flexible. The suggested donation is $50 for the six sessions. If this is not affordable (or you wish to offer more to support others who may wish to attend but do not have the funds), you can type any amount into the price box, starting with a minimum of $9.
